NECSA Pelindaba Research Center and dismantled uranium enrichment plant

Hidden between the Hennops river and the Hartbeespoort dam lies the Pelindaba nuclear research centre, with a 20 MW nuclear test reactor. It is also where the South African nuclear bombs (6 warheads) were developed and assembled in the 1970s and 1980s. South Africa’s only nuclear power station, Koeberg (2 x 900 MW), is located near Cape Town.
