Þingvellir
The site of Þingvellir testifies of the continental drift between the North American and Eurasian plates: they are moving apart by an average of 3 mm per year. Studies suggests that the valley has widened 70 meters within 10 000 years and sunk 40 meters. As a result, the first reunions of the parliament were done on a land 4 meters higher than today.
